This was a console that was sent back to me from Microsoft’s Repair Center, it included a letter stating that rather than repairing the console I had sent in, they had sent me a replacement unit. After a small bit of research, I determined that this was a brand new console, and had shipped from Memphis, one of Microsoft’s manufacturing centers rather than the Texas location I had sent my defective Xbox 360. I received the console back in mid March, and the console has a manufacture date of 03-06-2010. I had received it and never got around to using it, and as time progressed never set the Xbox up. It has been sitting in it’s box that it came from Microsoft, in a bag that new console come in. The bag was opened when I first got my console back, and I since have kept the Xbox in that bag. It has NEVER been plugged in, and has no play time on it at all – essentially, it’s a brand new Xbox 360.
The console is a Jasper console, with the voltage output of 12.1A;5V. This is the latest model of the Xbox 360, with the exception of the new Xbox 360 Slim released less than a month ago. Cosmetically, the console is 100% mint condition, and the guts of the console, I trust from Microsoft, would be new as well. I purchased the console (the original one) in January of 2009, before the Jasper series released, so I can confirm the console doesn’t have the same internals. In fact, the Jasper model, according to online articles, is much less prone to getting the dreaded red ring of death. If need be, when meeting with you, I can test the console for you.
The console won’t include a box, hard drive, controller(s) or a headset. I’ve given those peripherals to a younger cousin of mine who had asked for them. The Xbox will include the power supply and a set of video cables. You can purchase a hard drive separately or use memory cards that are available for pretty cheap in stores.
Also, the Xbox came back with a free 1-month Xbox Live trial card, I’m assuming for the trouble of having to send the old one in. I have not used the card, and it is still valid and will come with the console.
I still possess all of the documentation that came with the Xbox when it came back, and the letter reads:
“RE: REPLACEMENT OF YOUR XBOX CONSOLE
Dear Xbox Consumer,
So that you can get back to play and enjoying your Xbox quicker, we have replaced your Xbox console with a replacement unit.
The replacement unit will have a different serial number than your old unit.”
Online, Microsoft has a warranty for this console until 3/23/2011, with an extra two more years for Red Ring or E74 error.
